Following the success of the Translational Research Summits in 2022, Leica Biosystems is thrilled to be hosting multiple summit events across North America and Europe throughout 2023. In September 2023, we will be hosting our third event in Boston, Massachusetts, offering participants to explore a range of research solutions inspired by translational research projects, and network with their peers.

Each event will feature a unique series of researcher presentations, sharing results and discoveries obtained using the BOND RX fully automated research stainer and Aperio GT 450 digital slide scanner. Molecular and GI Pathologist, Brigham and Women's Hospital & Assistant Professor of Pathology, Harvard Medical School

Dr. Nowak is a molecular and GI pathologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and an assistant professor of pathology at Harvard Medical School. He is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and molecular genetic pathology. Dr. Nowak oversees NGS assays for solid tumors and cancer predisposition and runs a research lab at Dana-Farber for multi-omic analysis of pancreatic and colorectal cancers.

Professor, Pathology, Harvard Medical School & Director, GI Pathology, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center

Dr. Deshpande’s research focuses on pathology in gastrointestinal and connective tissue diseases. His contributions to the field of IgG4-related disease have been instrumental in establishing diagnostic criteria and pioneering new treatments for this disease. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed pieces, serves on multiple editorial boards, and is Editor in Chief of the Journal of Clinical Pathology.

Blake McAlpin received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from MD Anderson UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in 2021 where he studied neurotoxic side effects of chemotherapy treatment with a focus on microglia-mediated mechanisms underlying cognitive dysfunction. He received his bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan.

Traci DeGeer is the Director, Advanced Staining Innovation, Leica Biosystems. In her role she helps access new technology, manages relationships with partners, & liaises with R&D to meet partner & customer needs. Traci has a BS in Biology, an HT, HTL, and QIHC for the AP lab and is a HBx core program graduate. Traci has a patent in small molecule detection for PDL-1, sits on the ASCP Board of Certification, and is the Education Chair for NSH.

Dr Snyder received her PhD in immunology from the University of Cambridge, UK and trained as a postdoctoral fellow at Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California. Dr. Snyder has over 30 years' experience in immunology research, reagent development, preclinical development of biotherapeutics, and business development of immunoassay and immunodiagnostic products.

Robin is Sr. Field Applications Specialist with 10+ years at Leica Biosystems. She holds a Medical Molecular degree from Rogers State University and has been a certified histologist since 1984. After responding to a volunteer request, she served as a Webinar coordinator for NSH and is currently serving as an officer for the Oklahoma Society. Her passion has created several opportunities to speak at state and national meetings.

Mark Lawson is an Applications Specialist at Leica Biosystems, supporting BOND RX, BOND RXm, and a wide array of reagents. Mark has 15+ years of histology experience in the clinical and research spaces, ranging from histotechnologist to laboratory administrator. With this experience, Mark has been able to develop his skills in IHC and in situ hybridization assay development, laboratory management, and histology.
